Born in Tbilisi (Georgia) in 1986 and 1987, Georgian pianists Natia and Tamar Beraia received their musical inspiration and first piano lessons from their mother at the age of five and have been playing piano duo ever since. Soon after the first musical steps, they entered the Z. P. Paliaschwili Music School for Gifted Children in the class of Dodo Tsintsadze.
Their first success came at the International Piano Duo Competition “Sisters and Brothers” in St. Petersburg (Russia 1997), where they were awarded the first prize and three other special prizes. That same year Natia and Tamar were invited to Cremona (Italy) at the International Festival “BravoBravissimo”.
Natia and Tamar are prizewinners of many national competitions, among which we count the International Chamber Music Competition “New Names” in Moscow (Russia) and the scholarship awarded by the M. Tariverdiev Foundation.
They have performed with the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester in Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam conducted by V. Machavariani and with E. Mikeladze Georgian State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Heribert Beissel.
The next step in their professional path was the Tbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatory where both Natia and Tamar enrolled in the class of Prof. Nana Khubutia (2003-2009). During these years they actively continued playing Duo together and with the support of the Michel Sogny foundation “SOS Talents” they performed in many international festivals in Switzerland, France and Serbia. Invited by Georgian pianist Eteri Andjaparidze, Natia and Tamar Beraia also performed recitals in Chicago (USA). In 2012 the acclaimed Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowksa invited them to the Bayerische Musik Akademie in Marktoberdorf (Germany), where they appeared both as soloists and as a piano Duo.
Natia lives in Tbilisi, Georgia and Tamar lives in Kiev, Ukraine. Besides playing piano duo they both have independent successful solo piano careers.
